Romantic view of the cloister
Among the news of 2011 season, the Relais San Maurizio offers a new suite on the ground floor with private garden and view of the cloister of the monastery. The suite is in front of an old arbutus tree, unique and extraordinary. Indeed, it was planted 300 years ago by the monks.
The room – number 12 – has a living room and a double bedroom and two bathrooms. It is the only room in the resort with a Jacuzzi and it’s perfect also for families.
The arbutus tree, although it is more common in the Western Mediterranean countries, in the cloister it has found a suitable microclimate that has allowed it to develop into a majestic height. In the Resurgence period the arbutus tree, part of the Ericaceae family, just because of the color taken in the fall, the same as those of the Italian flag, was considered a symbol of the tricolor flag.
So much so that the poet Giovanni Pascoli’s dedicated a poem.
Cost: € 560 in high season
€ 450 in low. season

Relais San Maurizio in the magical afternoons sipping tea and precious relaxing herbal teas, cakes, enjoying Piedmont, the exquisite ‘small’ pastries for which Turin is famous for, the very English Finger Sandwiches. Signed James Cannistraro, food and beverage manager at the Relais English mother and Sicilian father, but especially “love of the Langhe. ?Cannistraro, 37, said: “We propose a selection of Dammann Frères black teas such as the English Breakfast – Ceylon, Darjeeling, Assam, Earl Grey scented with Bergamot and-smoked Lapsang Souchong, perfect for a break in the afternoon. These Can be enjoyed either straight or with a small addition of milk with the Darjeeling or English Breakfast or with lemon for the Earl Grey. Although my favorite is Earl Grey with milk, a bit ‘against the rules, but just very English. ?”We also have a selection of green tea – Cannistraro says – variations in green tea, pa ssion fruit, quince, berries, pineapple, cornflower, which come from China, Ceylon, Darjeeling and Sri Lanka. In a place of relaxation as the Relais San Maurizio herbal teas are ideal, especially after a path to wellness. We offer cammomile, verbena, linden and “Tisane des 40 sous,” a stunning blend of lemon peel, rose hips rose, verbena, orange leaves, liquorice and thyme. In conjunction with cakes and sandwiches just like the Queen of England ‘, but also with a choice of local pastries . Hazelnut Cake Cortemilia – made with the best Tonda Gentile hazelnuts – fruit tarts from Langa and apple pie are traditional ‘feel at home’. And for an international touch, there are the crepes suzette or Nutella. The sandwiches? Classic English recipe, of course: smoked salmon and cucumber. Excellent as well with a glass of Moscato d’Asti. “

The Palace, as we know, designed by great architects such as Philip and Amedeo di Castellamonte Juvarra is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture, built in the seventeenth and eighteenth century as a residence and hunting pleasure of the Savoy. The exhibition is located in the old stables and citronaia playing inside-out effect, with solutions that recreate an idealized landscape.
