One month since the opening of the gates, the list of wineries participating at Villa Favorita 2012 is virtually complete. 136 producers will present their wines to a competent and inquisitive audience on days 24, 25 and 26 March. 6 European Nations are involved in the show: Italy has 98 participants, France 19, Spain 8, Austria 7, Slovenia 3 and the Czech Republic closes with a company. The major event is the culmination of an intense activity that leads VinNatur group throughout the year, and that includes conferences, seminars, technical meetings and exhibitions across Europe for the promotion of natural wines. We are pleased to announce that the show will be attended by a large group of Spanish producers, which will propose an original vision of terroir wines from one of the more dynamic countries of the old continent. The selection of participating companies is carried out with very strict criteria. A restricted Committee assesses the organoleptic characteristics of wine samples and adherence to the underlying philosophy of the group. The wines that exceed this first tasting are then systematically analyzed by an external laboratory that tests for the presence of residues of pesticides, herbicides or other potentially harmful components. It also measures the amount of sulphur dioxide present in each wine. Only companies in line with those criteria are admitted to Villa Favorita. To our knowledge this is the only natural wine exhibition to apply a so precise protocol. This is to guarantee consumers and producers that the use of chemical product and additives is excluded both in the vineyard and in the cellar.
Are you ready for Villa Favorita?
March 24-25-26 2012
The first edition of #NEW Natural European Wines in Zurich closed with a good overall result.
The members of the group gathered in a Conference lead by Angiolino Maule and Isabelle Légéron (MW), and highlighted by Claude and Lydia Bourguignon and Jonathan Nossiter (Mondovino), followed by a great wine tasting.
Now is time to refine all the details of the main event of the group: Villa Favorita 2012.
This is the 9th edition, hosted in the wonderful scenario of Villa Favorita, a classical setting halfway between Verona and Vicenza.
The event is a landmark for all natural wine lovers.
The members of the association work hardly to produce terroir wines that will not pollute the soil and respect consumers’ health.
In the presence of all the producers, it will be possible to either discover or deepen the knowledge of natural wines.
The group believes that only by eliminating pesticides, herbicides and reducing as much as possible sulfurs and additives, is possible to be really near to the “terroir”.
The list of participants is under completion, with a forecast of over 150 winemakers.
This is an important sign of the reputation of the event, the biggest of its genre in Europe, grown in almost ten years of activity.
An important goal of the group is the active research both in the field and in the cellar.
During the year VinNatur organizes meetings, conferences and experimentations with researchers and scientists, and the members can be updated with the latest results in natural winemaking. VinNatur will be held the 24, 25 and 26 March, 2012 with an extra day to ensure a better welcome to journalists, importers and wine lovers.
